Hey Stranger

It has been so long since I wrote a blog post! I have wanted to get back to blogging for ages but I was so focused on the podcast and readathons and work in general. Last year, the readathon in February knocked me down. Hosting those readathons is a lot of work and I just shut down in March. It took me so long to even get back into reading anything, and so long to want to participate on Instagram again. But I’ve made some decisions about the blog moving forward in 2023.

I’m not going to try and post every week. I’m also going to write more about running. I started this blog to talk about reading and running. And I always focus on the reading. So expect some more running content this year! I’m also not planning to host any readathons this year, except one. I know, it’s unbelievable. I hosted Thriller October last year and decided it was too much work, effort, and money for the simple and single benefit of talking to people about books. I enjoyed hosting the buddy reads, but everything else was just work.

In 2023, I want to focus on things that bring me joy. I have to work, and I have two jobs. My work doesn’t make me sad, I enjoy it, but it’s still work. We just have to do it to get the survival credits (money). So outside of work, I want to read, run, do yoga, hang out with my husband, my friends & family, and my dog. I want to go hiking and travel! I want to go to the beach and read, and hang out all day by the water at the cottage. These are things that bring me joy, and it also brings me joy to talk about those things with other people. So that’s my goal for 2023, do things that bring me joy and talk about those things.

I have fun plans for the podcast and so many reading goals for the year. I’ve been thinking about training for a race this year, but I haven’t decided what race yet. I’ve thought a lot about doing another triathlon but I’ve also been thinking about another half marathon, or maybe even a full marathon! I can’t decide now so I will decide later. But at least 2 races will happen in 2023. I also gave myself the completely unrealistic goal of doing yoga every single day in 2023. I’m telling myself I will do at least 20 minutes a day. The amount of willpower that endeavour is going to take is insane but maybe I can do it.

In total, I have a lot of plans for 2023. Who knows how my willpower will hold up but I’m going to give it my best. What are you hoping to accomplish this year? Another year full of opportunities right?

Happy reading!

  1. Hello! Long time follower on IG, but first time I’ve been to your blog. I’ve been a blogger for longer than I’ve been on IG, but I haven’t been as active on my blog as I’d like to be, but I’m making that a priority for 2023. Love your goals — you have an amazing year ahead of you!

Those all sound like lovely goals; especially the reading on the beach and cottage time 🙂 My blog has fallen by the wayside, so my goal is to try and actually post stuff there. lol And I’m following along to do the 23 in 23 challenge with you on Insta… Also, grow really big carrots in my garden this year lol My goals are a bit all over the place lol

Good luck with yoga and your other goals! Take care!

  3. I love your readathons, but I’m glad you’re doing what is right for you. I love when bookstagrammers show more or their nonbookish activities, so I’m happy to get to see more of your running content, too! Happy New Years!!
