Good morning bookworms! I read this one for Cozy Mystery March with @readwithaimee. I hadn’t read a cozy mystery before so this was a new experience. It had all the mystery of a thriller, but it wasn’t scary. So you didn’t get that heart racing scared feeling, and you can’t look away because it’s crazy feeling. It was much more like an Agatha Christie, especially because it included a cat named Miss Marple. That being said, I did still enjoy it. It only took me two days to read and it was very easy to sink into.
The town of Stoneham is known as a book town, there are a lot of book stores there. Tricia owns the mystery book store Haven’t Got A Clue. One night she is hosting an author signing event and finds the author dead in her bathroom at the end of the night. The local sheriff won’t let Tricia reopen her store, or stay in her apartment above it until the crime is solved. Tricia is stuck staying with her ornery sister Angelica which she finds difficult. So she decides to try solving the murder on her own so she can get her store back.

The pacing was great in the book, the murder happens right away so it hooks you in well. Then Tricia’s relationship with each side character is well done. I particularly liked her sister Angelica and the sometimes strained relationship they have. She also has a great relationship with her coworkers. Overall I gave this one 4 stars. A solid and enjoyable book, it’s part of a series, so I can read more of them too. Also this is book 2 and I didn’t read book 1 in the series and I wasn’t confused so I think you can read them out of order. If you like thrillers and mysteries but are looking for something a little less scary, check out a cozy mystery.
Happy Reading!
Angie
